City of Montebello Celebrates Opening of Bus CNG Fuel Station
March 28th, 2012 by Fiedler Group
In an exceptional demonstration of its dedication to reducing greenhouse emissions as well as its carbon footprint, the City of Montebello opened its CNG fueling station with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by local, state, and federal officials.
The station was funded by the Transit Investments for Greenhouse Gas and Energy Reduction (TIGGER) program by which $75 million was appropriated to transit agencies for capital investments to help reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
The City successfully applied for $2.4 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funding to support the replacement of the fueling system’s underground storage tank pipes, CNG fleet expansion, and the opening of the CNG fueling station.
Built by Clean Energy, the station features two booster compressors and two primary compressors, allowing Montebello Bus Lines to deliver nearly 500 gallons of natural gas per hour to the bus yard.
The CNG fuel station marks the third project Fiedler Group has completed for Montebello Bus Lines.
In support of this project, Fiedler Group was retained to provide construction management services.
Prior to this, we provided the design and permitting for their UST Project Replacement of the fueling system’s underground storage tank piping as well as the construction management services for the same project.
