June 14th, 2013

Since its founding in 1957, Fiedler Group has prided itself in being a leading supplier of innovative engineering and architectural design services.  It’s this commitment that consistently positions Fiedler Group among industry leaders — revolutionizing technologies, processes, and advancements.

Working closely with all three big energy partners — Shell, BP, and Chevron, Fiedler Group has participated in the development of eight different hydrogen fueling stations.

Our project development services have included:

Fiedler Group assisted our energy partners with the development of numerous different hydrogen generation and distribution fueling applications:

Hydrogen generation through Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) of natural gas and water into hydrogen in these locations:

  • Chevron, Chino, CA. (February, 2005)
  • Chevron, Orlando, FL. (May, 2007)
  • Shell, Newport Beach, CA. (July, 2012) – The first high-pressure hydrogen fueling station aimed at private consumers in California, and the first to serve four hydrogen-powered vehicles at the same time.

Hydrogen generated on-site using electrolysis to convert city water into purified hydrogen in these locations:

  • BP, Los Angeles International Airport, CA. (October, 2004)
  • Chevron, Rosemead, CA. (May, 2007)
  • Shell, West Los Angeles, CA. (November, 2008) – The first integrated gasoline/hydrogen station in California

Hydrogen delivered to site in tube trailers:

  • Shell,  Culver City, CA (June, 2009)

Hydrogen delivered directly to site by tapping into an existing hydrogen pipeline:

  • Shell,  Torrance, CA.  (June, 2011) – A collaborative effort between Shell, Toyota, Air Products, South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), and the Department of Energy (DOE) which was the nation’s first station to tap directly into an existing hydrogen pipeline, and first station capable of simultaneously refueling four vehicles at once from two dispensers
