Initially started as a small Japanese neighborhood family market, Famima!! is now a well established convenience store brand with over 20,000 stores throughout Asia, featuring upscale, clean, European-style design, paired with premium foods, like deli style “lunch boxes” (sandwiches, panini, sushi).

Since their entry into California in 2004, Fiedler Group assisted Famima!! with due diligence on several locations (including Los Angeles Union Station) and was selected to design and permit four Famima!! stores — three in downtown Los Angeles (including the opening of a store in the historic Arcade Building) and one in Orange County — as the company continues to expand in Southern California.

In selecting upscale store opportunities within existing high rise buildings, Famima!! presented Fiedler Group with special design challenges of fitting a modern store into an early 20th century space, including significant site reconfiguration and disabled access.

While the company’s other locations are more targeted to office workers and transit users, the Arcade Building location targets large residential populations, while the opening of the Spring/Broadway Famima!! location marks significant progress in the recent revitalization of the Broadway area — which was previously neglected and occupied largely by swap meets.

Fiedler Group provided the permitting and all of the architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural design services, working closely with the Famima!! team, property owners, and contractors to bring these projects to successful completion.
