7-Eleven, Los Angeles

February 2nd, 2016 by Fiedler Group

Fiedler Group is excited to announce the opening of the latest 7-Eleven convenience store and gas station.

Located at 5530 Valley Boulevard in the City of Los Angeles, this new 7-Eleven facility is a ground-up 6,833 square foot special designed building with a 1,925 square foot canopy and four multi-product dispensers.

The rear space within the building is designated as a training facility for 7-Eleven employees.

The project was a former gas station site that was demolished in the early 1990’s, which presented engineering and construction challenges with uncertified soil to depths up to 35 feet and contaminated soil.

Fiedler Group evaluated options to remedy this situation, including over excavation and re-compaction and modified pier and grade beam foundations to determine the most economical solution.

Fiedler Group was able to impact the project by creating an innovative water quality management treatment plan (WQMP) to comply with the City of Los Angeles Water Quality Management and Low Impact Development (LID) regulations where stormwater is collected underground, pumped into above ground landscaped ponds for treatment, and then re-captured and directed to the city storm sewer system due to site underground contamination.

Fiedler Group was responsible for preparation of the construction documents, permit processing, bid coordination, and construction administration, as well as addressing entitlement requirements for the City of Los Angeles.

The contractor for this project was Corona Construction, Inc., based in San Dimas, California.
