[VIDEO] Nation’s Truck Stops; Chicken or the Egg?
December 10th, 2012 by Fiedler Group
A recent CNN article profiled the nation’s truck stops and their use of liquefied natural gas, questioning if the country is ready to embrace LNG in trucks.
Fiedler Group entitled, designed, and permitted the Clean Energy facility featured in the video, below.
The Clean Energy facility profiled in the CNN video — which shares approximately one-half acre with an operating Flying J Travel Center — is nestled between the highly-traveled corridors of State Route 207 and Interstate Highway 95 in the community of Ruther Glen, Virginia
With two fuel dispensing stations available at opening, and space to expand to two additional dispensers, the LNG is stored in one 43-foot tall, 18,000 gallon capacity tank (which Fiedler Group recessed three feet below grade due to city-imposed height restrictions). As demand necessitates in the future, installation of a second tank is planned.
Fiedler Group processed a review by the Virginia Department of Transportation to ensure the project would not encroach into existing VDOT right-of-ways or otherwise impact the existing traffic patterns of the surrounding area.
Utilizing an accommodating design, Fiedler Group completed the required construction documents and processed permitting through both the city and county jurisdictions.
