Joint CEC and ARB Report Forecasts Hydrogen Stations in California

March 15th, 2016 by Fiedler Group

A new report from the California Energy Commission and the Air Resources Board has forecasted the number of operational hydrogen stations in California at the close of 2016.

The report finds that by the end of 2016, more than 50 hydrogen fuel station will be able to service more than 10,000 fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs).

By the year 2020, the report anticipates an initial network of 100 fuel stations would support demand, requiring approximately $160 million in funding.

The report also projects the total hydrogen expected demand.

While expected demand peaks in 2023, hydrogen fuel station capacity plateaus in 2020.

This capacity pace demonstrates that continued financial support from the state is critical to furthering consistent market growth of FCEVs in California.
