Hawaii to Welcome Sonic Drive-In Location
May 10th, 2016 by Fiedler Group
Ninety percent of Sonic Drive-In locations are owned by local franchisees.
And now, Hawaii may welcome its first location as soon as 2018.
Former NFL players, Maake and Chris Kemoeatu, plan to open the first Sonic Drive-In restaurant while also committing to seven locations throughout the islands.
The brothers are both Hawaii natives having played for the Kahuku Red Raiders, and then going on to the University of Utah and earning Super Bowl rings.
Sonic Drive-In has a long sixty year history, and is known for serving burgers, hot dogs, breakfast items, snacks, and a line of signature desserts.
Maake Kemoeatu commented that he is “super excited…to be the one to bring [Sonic] to Hawaii.
The Kemoeatu family and its partners are looking at Kapolei, Kakaako and other areas for the first Sonic Drive-In locations.
Honolulu is also being considered for a conversion of existing urban area buildings.
