City of Los Angeles Announces Two Beneficial Building & Safety Pilot Programs
June 9th, 2015 by Fiedler Group
In their recent quarterly newsletter, the City of Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety announced two new programs designed to enhance the service provided to the public.
Extended Counter Plan Check (ECPC) is a pilot program that aims to provide same-day, over-the-counter plan check service for plans that normally take 2-3 hours to review.
Currently, these types of plans must be submitted for review, and wait in lines with other plans including large projects, resulting in a current turnaround time of twenty working days.
LADBS also announced the Small Project Plan Check (SPPC).
Under this program, customers with ECPC-type plans that do not want over-the-counter check, but do not want to wait behind large projects, can submit plans to be reviewed by SPPC.
As a result of this program, SPPC plans now have a shorter review time of only five working days.
Further, the City also stated they are putting more than 13 million indexed building records online for public access.
These records include permits, Certificates of Occupancy, Grading records, among others.
It is estimated that this new online access to building records will save the City time and money, while simultaneously saving 25,000 customers a trip to the LADBS every year.
