7-Eleven Ramping Up Its Growth In Asia With Focus On Vietnam

With over 44,000 stores located throughout Asia, 7-Eleven is continuing its Far East growth, now focusing on Vietnam.

The global convenience store leader, recently announced a master franchise agreement with Seven Systems Vietnam Co. Ltd. to build and renovate spaces throughout the country.

7-Eleven spokesman commented on this growth direction, seeking to build 1,000 stores in the next 10 years, noting “Vietnam is growing almost as fast as China and we’ve also identified a great partner there.”

Vietnam is the world’s 13th most populous country and boasts an attractive, affluent economy population.

The Vietnamese franchise agreement is the company’s first in Asia since 2009, when it entered the region with stores in Indonesia.

7-Eleven also boasts over 17,000 locations in Japan, over 5,000 in Taiwan, over 7,000 in South Korea, as well as stores in Hong Kong/Macau, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and China.

Seven & I Holdings Co. (7-Eleven’s parent company) CEO, Toshifumi Suzuki, believes the company may reach 80,000 7-Eleven locations by 2020, based on this expansion rate.
