City of Santa Barbara Adds New 10,000 Gallon Diesel Aboveground Storage Tank

The City of Santa Barbara Public Works Department – Facilities Division recently completed the installation of a new 10,000-gallon Aboveground Storage Tank (AST) at the City Corporate Yard. In addition to the new AST, the project design contract which was awarded to Fiedler Group also included over 11,000 sq. ft. of asphalt and concrete pavement, new perimeter fencing and 13 new above grade planter boxes to capture existing roof drainage as part of the City’s Tier 3 Storm water compliance requirements.
The new fuel system components included the Modern Welding Fireguard AST, OmegaFlex double containment product piping and fittings, FE Petro turbine, and Bravo under dispenser containment sump.
Fiedler Group’s conceptual design and construction documents services included civil design (demolition & erosion control plan, site & horizontal control plan, grading plan, stormwater improvement plans, and Stormwater BMP Analysis), structural tank slab design, fuel system design (fuel piping, tank plan & elevations, day tank piping, details and equipment schedule), electrical design and construction specifications.
The contractor for the AST installation was Western Pump. Berry General Engineering addressed the hardscape and planter boxes portion of the project scope.
