Walmart Opens 2nd Pickup and Fuel Convenience Store

January 3rd, 2017 by Fiedler Group

Walmart has announced the opening of a new pickup and fuel convenience store located in Thornton, Colorado.

The 4,000-square-foot store is the second one in the country for Walmart which features a new concept of a same day online grocery order pick-up location, a convenience store, and gas station.

The company opened its first pickup and fuel station in April in Huntsville, Alabama.

The new Walmart pickup and fuel stores offer traditional convenience store items such as hot sandwiches, snacks, drinks, and a coffee bar, as well as well as basics like milk, eggs, and bread.

For a wider selection of grocery items, online grocery pickup is available at the stores.  Customers can order groceries before 1:00 p.m. and pick them up that same day, after 5:00 p.m.

A dedicated drive-thru is provided for customers to pick-up groceries ordered through the retailer’s website.

The groceries are picked and packed by Walmart employees at a local Walmart supercenter, and then loaded into customers’ cars at the Walmart pickup and fuel store for free.

Walmart eCommerce market coach Gina Kretoski noted “The concept was born because at Walmart we are constantly looking for ways to add convenience. Customers are changing the way they shop and we want to make sure we are changing too.” “It is popular, the pick-up business is growing.”
