Clean Energy Fuels Opens First Public Natural Gas Station in Oregon
October 4th, 2016 by Fiedler Group
Clean Energy Fuels Corp. announced the opening of the first public natural gas station in the state of Oregon.
The natural gas fuel station is located in the Pilot Travel Center Plaza on Interstate 5 in Central Point, just outside the city of Medford.
This new station dispenses both liquified natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG), effectively expanding the reach of “America’s Natural Gas Highway” from San Diego to Seattle.
Joshua Matheson, vice president of operations for Matheson Trucking, Inc. — whose carrier company utilizes the station for its runs — commented, “The addition of this station allows us the strategic advantage of being able to rely on natural gas throughout our entire distribution system.”
The new station in Central Point expands Clean Energy’s network in Oregon; earlier, the company solidified its relationship with Fred Meyer Stores by providing the grocery company with renewable natural gas.
Natural gas’ quickening adoption is due to costing less than traditional fuel sources like gasoline or diesel, while also reducing greenhouse gas emissions by up to 21 percent.
