BIP and USDA Partnership Doubles Biofuel Pump Volume
November 17th, 2015 by Fiedler Group
Thanks in part to the Biofuel Infrastructure Partnership (BIP), the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) plans to double the number of service station pumps supplying renewable fuels.
This program dates back to May 2014, when the USDA announced $100 million in grant money was available for biofuel pumps.
With later commitments from state and private entities, the BIP has made $210 million available.
While a traditional gas pump limits the amount of renewable energy, delivering fuel with 10 percent ethanol, biofuel pumps can provide higher blends of ethanol including E15, E85, and other combination blends.
The awards, announced in October, are estimated to expand the biofuel pump volume by 5,000 pumps in 1,400 fueling stations in 21 states in America.
