Sonic Drive-In, Riverside

December 1st, 2015 by Fiedler Group

Fiedler Group is excited to announce the opening of a new Sonic Drive-In in the City of Riverside, California.

Located in the Arlington District on the corner of Magnolia Avenue and Van Buren Boulevard at 9505 Magnolia Ave., the project involved the development of a new 3,275 square foot Sonic restaurant and canopy.

Sonic is the most highly differentiated quick-service (QSR) brand, offering a fun, retro-future look that stands out and offers customers the option to drive-in, drive-thru or dine in options.

Sonic’s unique, streamlined delivery system is built around personalized and friendly carhop service that’s fast, convenient and a lot more fun than the typical fast-food place. Sonic brings a high quality day/evening operation that adds energy to the area.

The project site is the former location of the Citizens National Trust and Savings Bank from 1903 to 1953.

The Sonic building was designed to blend the historical Citizens Bank building architecture and corner blade sign with the unique Sonic mid-century modern tower / fascia element with signature arched dome and drive-in carhop canopies with L.E.D. lights.

The historic exterior architecture continued inside the building thru finishes, pilasters, and ceilings. Symmetrical Flat screen videos at each bay create life, fun, and energy to the project.

Fiedler Group was responsible for the architectural, MEP, landscape, and civil design, the implementation of the owner selected interior décor package, as well as processing and obtaining entitlement approval which included addressing significant site and architectural design requirements and challenging storm water design hurdles from for the City of Riverside.

The contractor for this project was Alfredo Annino Construction, Inc. based in Studio City, California.

Fiedler Group has two more ground up Sonic projects currently in final stages of plan review – one in San Diego County and one in Riverside County.
