Dunkin’ Brands Lauds Impressive Restaurant Growth Figures
March 3rd, 2015 by Fiedler Group
The parent company of Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins — Dunkin’ Brands Group — recently announced that in 2014, over 400 new Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin-Robbins locations were opened by U.S.-based franchisees.
This growth once again solidifies Dunkin’ Brands as one of the fast growing companies (by unit count) in the QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) industry.
Of those 400 new locations, 70 Dunkin’ Donut franchise restaurants were opened in non-traditional locations including airports and college campuses, while some 600 existing restaurants already hold stake in mass transit stations, travel centers, supermarkets, entertainment centers, and military bases.
While over 400 net new restaurants were opened in the United States — including the highly-touted launch of the Dunk’ Donuts brand in Southern California — another 500 locations were also remodeled.
The remodeled locations reflect the new restaurant design options that the brand unveiled in 2013.
The company also recently launched DD Green Achievement — a green building program that is designed to help franchisees build sustainable and energy efficient quick service restaurants. The brand expects 100 new DD Green locations to open by the end of 2016.
According to Nigel Travis, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Dunkin’ Brands, in 2015, the company expects “to open between 410 and 440 Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants and between five to ten new Baskin-Robbins locations.”
For the Baskin-Robbins brand, the company’s second consecutive year of positive net growth was due in part to the opening of 17 new restaurants in Kentucky, California, and Louisiana.
Looking forward, the brand has already signed agreements with franchisees to open locations in San Francisco, Phoenix, Tampa, Louisville, and Colorado Springs.
The Dunkin’ Brands Group is one of the world’s leading franchisors of quick service restaurants with more than 18,000 points of distribution spread across nearly 60 countries.
