Sonic, San Diego
November 18th, 2014 by Fiedler Group
Fiedler Group is excited to announce the opening of a new Sonic Drive-In located in the North Park area of San Diego, west of the 805 freeway.
Located at 2829 El Cajon Blvd. in the City of San Diego, California, the project involved the interior demolition and re-branding of an existing 3,400 square foot Burger King restaurant and the addition of two free standing canopies in the parking lot.
In order to eliminate the WQMP requirement for this re-development site, Fiedler Group designed the site to grind and overlay the existing asphalt.
Sonic is a highly differentiated quick-service (QSR) brand, offering a fun, retro-future look that stands out and offers customers the option to drive-in, drive-thru or dine on its patio.
Sonic’s unique, streamlined delivery system is built around personalized and friendly carhop service that’s fast, convenient and a lot more fun than the typical fast-food place. Ribbed metal panels and a distinctive sloped roof line and canopy with L.E.D. lights complete the retro car-hop environment.
Fiedler Group was responsible for the architectural, MEP, landscape, and civil design, the implementation of the owner selected interior décor package, as well as addressing entitlement requirements for the City of San Diego.
The contractor for this project was Alfredo Annino Construction, Inc. based in Studio City, California.
This was Fiedler Group’s second design of a Sonic project (the first being a Sonic Drive-In location in Corona).
Fiedler Group is also in process in the entitlement of a third location, in Riverside County, California, as well as the development of preliminary design for yet another location in San Diego County, California.
