SC Fuels, La Mirada & Gardena

SC Fuels has recently added Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) to the list of products dispensed at their La Mirada and Gardena cardlock locations.

New 2,000 gallon above ground storage tanks containing DEF were installed at both locations, while additional DEF installations are planned for other Southern California-located SC Fuels facilities.

Beginning in January 2010, all new highway use vehicles are required to meet the EPA’s tougher Tier 2 Emission Standards for Light and Heavy Duty Vehicles.

This new standard reduces allowable nitrogen oxide levels by 90 percent. Injection of DEF into the vehicle exhaust system addresses the new stringent emission regulations

The new DEF tanks came with secondary containment enclosure, fill connection, electrical panel, pump motor, monitoring as a pre-assembled unit.

The installing contractor, Petro Builders Inc. (Gardena) and C.E.Thomas (La Mirada), added piping, dispenser, hanging hardware, electrical and associated equipment to complete the installation. These designs also incorporated provisions for future expansion of additional DEF dispensers onto the other islands.

Fiedler Group provided the fuel and electrical design, and all required permitting and bidding services associated with these projects.
